I initially came to vpi on January 24, 2006, shortly after the Orangeville office opened. During my initial assessment, I expressed frustration and confusion as I had been looking for work since October 2005 and had been unsuccessful in securing employment. vpi gave me focus, encouragement and the belief that I was marketable and I would find work. vpi helped simplify the process, so it did not seem like an overwhelming task. I appreciated the followup phone calls that gave me the encouragement to keep moving forward with my job search and I was rewarded with full time employment within seven weeks of completing my assessment with vpi. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your advice and continued support during the search for gainful employment. It was very insightful to have a professional assessment of my current resume and my immediate career objectives. Your sincere compassion for my personal priorities and the obstacles that stood in the way of my goals really mattered. As a self critical and driven individual it was refreshing to share the truth of my scattered employment history. Your frank observations and guidance enabled me to realize my full potential. Within a short time I was able to have the confidence to decide what I wanted in a new career and persevered. This time I stayed focused and true to myself and did not even consider applying to or taking something that was not meeting my criteria. Again, I appreciate your assistance in attaining my new position. Sincerely, Stephanie |

To Whom it may Concern,
I would like to express my appreciation to VPI for their support and direction to the Government sponsored Self Employment Benefits program.
By way of a brief recap, I found myself unemployed in late 2006 after relocating for personal reasons to a more rural area of the Province.
At that juncture I thought it may be a good point in time to consider my entire future career and employment direction.
After consulting with the Orangeville office of VPI and setting up a back to Work Action plan It was agreed I should consider and explore the Self Employment benefit program.
I successfully applied to that program and became an Entrepreneur operating my own business under the name and style of Scoop Troop in the Dufferin County area.
The whole expereince and training proved most beneficial and my sole proprietorship was moderately successful.
It is note worthy however that the process of starting up my own Company, receiving formal business training and the entire networking process allowed me to form several worthwhile connections.
Most noteably my Business is now acting on a consulting/fee for services basis for a Whitby/Ajax firm which is starting up a Private Security business in the Province of Ontario.
To this end I have just signed formal documentation to become the Vice president of Operations for this new firm. I will also enjoy any future upside through a profit sharing agreement which will reward me based on my/the Company's financial performance.
My wife and I are currently in the process of relocation to the Ajax/Whitby area and I will be assuming my new position in early February.
The support of the VPI office along with that of the delivery providers (Job Skills) of the SEB program in Brampton greatly assisted in building a pathway for me to obtain this new Business opportunity/career.
Trusting you will find this satisfactory, I remain
Your Truly
Phil |
